Super Natural Babies

Okay, that was just fun to write!

I want to write a little introduction into my overall philosophy of infant development or "Rae-ology" based on what I have seen over time, both personally and professionally.

It sounds simple but the truth is, we (grown-ups) tend to judge our infant's abilities from a, well, judge-y place.

Issues of breast and bottle feeding: hard to latch, gassy, colic-y, leaky tend to get labeled "fussy", "messy", "lazy".

But the simple truth is, a baby can only do, what a baby can do.

We have capitalism and convenience telling us that there maybe something wrong with our infants, the way that we are caring for them or the products that we are using. Typically, however, it is a mismatch between the task demand and the infants innate capacity at that moment to achieve the desired outcome (eating, sleeping, pooping).

I want to spend some time using this blog to address some of the common behaviors infants demonstrate and break down the biology, physiology and other -ologies to support the infants we love and care for.
